The iNZight Team
iNZight is built by statisticians, for statisticians—and everyone else who wants to explore data without writing code. Our team spans decades of development, from founding vision to ongoing maintenance.
Current Team
Professor Chris Wild from the University of Auckland's Department of Statistics founded iNZight and shaped its intuitive, education-focused design philosophy. His deep ties to statistical education have guided every aspect of iNZight's development. Now enjoying retirement, Chris continues to provide strategic direction.
Tom joined iNZight in 2013 and now leads the project. He maintains the R packages, Windows installer, GitHub repositories, and this website. Tom holds a PhD in Statistics from the University of Auckland and is a senior researcher at iNZight Analytics, completing a Ngā Puanga Pūtaiao Fellowship.
Since 2018, Andrew has contributed ideas and funding through iNZight Analytics Ltd, advocating for iNZight in government and research settings. His support has extended iNZight's capabilities for use in research and official statistics.
A PhD student at the University of Auckland, Charco is responsible for maintaining and developing iNZight Lite, as well as providing user support.
Previous Team
The development of iNZight has been shaped by many talented students from the University of Auckland, working part-time or on research projects.
Original developer; designed iNZight's foundational interface and workflow.
Main developer responsible for the website, installers, and core packages.
Contributed to graphics, regression, time series, and other modules.
MSc project became the Multiple Response module; wrote the first iNZight Lite.
Redesigned the iNZight GUI from scratch, improving usability for both users and developers.
Designed and developed the current Lite architecture.
Worked on Shiny apps including iNZight Lite and Census at School.
Maintained and extended iNZight Lite during his PhD, including public shiny containers.
Extended graphics with FT Chart Library, rebuilt maps module, added epidemiological features.
Maintained Lite during his PhD and added the Experimental Design module.
Maintained iNZight Lite and refactored the build process for improved stability.
